The National Automobile Dealers Association and Vehicles for Change have forged a national partnership to give vehicles to people in need.

The program will be formally announced at a May 27 event at NADA Chairman Rob Cochran’s #1 Cochran Buick GMC Monroeville dealership.

According to NADA, the goal of the partnership is to expand dealer participation in VFC's program, which helps provide reliable transportation to families in need nationwide.

During the event, the #1 Cochran dealership group will award two vehicles to local families as an example of how dealerships can participate in the program. A step-by-step playbook will also be released with the information dealers need on how to participate.

“America’s franchised new-car dealers have a long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities they serve,” Cochran said. “This event demonstrates the powerful impact dealers can have. And after the playbook launches, interested dealers can easily host similar events in their communities and help change lives.”

Through its Keys to Independence program, VFC said it's helped more than 8,200 families access affordable vehicles to “maintain employment and grow financial independence while creating new opportunities and experiences for their families.”

“Reliable transportation changes everything,” said VFC board Chairman Andy Koblenz. “Through this partnership, dealers across the country will have the tools and framework needed to help hardworking families access opportunity, maintain employment, and build a stronger future.”
