Giveaway Helps Illinois Mother Regain Reliable Transportation
Fix It Forward is DOWC corporate social responsibility program that repairs vehicles of nominees experiencing hardship

DOWC Cares, through its Fix It Forward giveaway program, announced that it chose a Glenview, Ill. mother facing severe financial hardship as this month’s winner.
Deborah, who has been experiencing displacement, relied on her 2004 Toyota Prius to perform food deliveries through Uber as a means to support herself and her daughter. When the vehicle’s hybrid battery failed, she lost her only source of income, putting her and her daughter in an even more difficult situation.
Thanks to a nomination by Nelson Automotive, the Fix It Forward program will cover the full cost of replacing Deborah’s hybrid battery so she can get back on the road and back to work.
“Stories like Deborah’s remind us why Fix It Forward exists,” said Debra LaMotta, founder of DOWC Cares. “Reliable transportation can be the key to income, stability, and dignity. We’re proud to partner with Nelson Automotive Inc. to get Deborah and her daughter moving forward again.”
DOWC recognizes Nelson Automotive for its involvement in the program and commitment to supporting its local community through initiatives such as Fix It Forward.
