Cities Ranked on Crash Risk
LendingTree study breaks down collision rankings for the 50 biggest in the U.S.
Generation Z drivers tend to end up in crashes more often, having about six wrecks per 1,000 drivers.

Of the biggest U.S. cities, Portland takes the dubious distinction of having the most crash-prone drivers, according to a LendingTree study of its own insurance quotes.
Portland drivers have about 7.5 crashes per 1,000 drivers, or more than double the 3.6 average among the 50 biggest cities. It may be no coincidence that another recent LendingTree report showed Portland as the most speed-prone big U.S. city.
The latest analysis found that Lincolns are the make involved in collisions more often in the big cities, followed closely by Cadillacs, and Chevrolet Blazer drivers are the most accident-prone at the model level at nine collisions per 1,000 drivers.
It will come as no surprise that the youngest drivers tend to end up in crashes more often. Generation Z has about six wrecks per 1,000 drivers, according to the study.
Crashes that resulted in deaths spiked in a handful of cities studied, in North Carolina capital Raleigh by 69% from 2021 to 2022; by 58% in Long Beach, Calif.; 56% in Oakland, Calif.; and 53% in Las Vegas.
